At the 10.00 a.m. Mass a Polish lady singer – Marta Matuszewska – will sing during Holy Communion time; and, after Mass, she will give a little concert for those who would like to stay.
Sister Jean Castle of the Sisters of Mercy died recently and her funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Church at 10.30 a.m. May she rest in peace.

THIS WEEKEND there will be a Retiring Collection for the Home Missions.
Work should begin in the first week of October to install two new boilers and thirteen radiators in the Church. We need to raise further funds to pay for the heating system and a member of the Finance Committee will make an appeal at each Mass this weekend.

On Tuesday, 19th September Sr. Elizabeth, of the Orthodox Church, will hold her stall of religious objects – available after the 7.30 p.m. Mass.

DEANERY INTER-PARISH QUIZ
On Sunday, 24th September, as part of the finale of the fund-raising for Mary’s Meals, there will be another quiz – at Our Lady of Lourdes, Hessle. This time the Senior Quiz will involve teams comprising 2 adults and 2 young people, and the Junior Quiz teams will comprise 4 young primary school contestants, with an adult.
Each parish is invited to provide a Senior Team and a Junior Team. Parents and young people, please contact Fr Des as soon as possible if you can represent our parish at this event, otherwise he’ll be at Hessle all alone.
DEANERY CHALLENGE at St. Vincent’s School from 2 p.m. on Sunday, 24th September. The Challenge was to span the Humber Bridge in pennies. To date more than half the pennies needed have been raised, with more activities to come. Can you help by giving pennies or baking a cake or scones for this event, where there will be refreshments, games, etc.?
RCIA – JOURNEY IN FAITH
A weekly gathering for those who are interested in discovering what it is to become a Catholic, Tuesdays at 8.00 p.m., after the 7.30 p.m. Mass, in the Parish House, beginning on Tuesday19th September.
