Marist Fathers

Website:  http://www.maristfathers.org.au/

The Society of Mary is an international male religious congregation in the Catholic Church. It consists of priests and brothers who give their lives to the service of the gospel in the spirit of Mary, the first disciple of Jesus, by taking the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and by living in community. Together we witness to the life-giving activity of God in the human person as we work to create a better world.

Marists have a distinctive way of living the gospel of Jesus. We are chosen by and choose Mary, Jesus' mother, as our role model for living the Christian life. Hence our ministry of service is characterized by a Marian, nurturing and compassionate quality.

  • identify the causes of poverty and raise public awareness of them, encouraging supporters and the public to challenge the structures, policies and attitudes that reinforce inequality.
