MARIST HALL AND SOCIAL CLUB

The Marist Hall and Social Club are situated behind the church of Our Lady Of Lourdes and Saint Peter Chanel on Cottingham Road.  

When not being used for parish functions either the Hall or the Club can be booked by contacting the managers, Tim and Gwen Carruthers, by telephone: 01482 805457 or 07717 442269.  

A formal contract must be signed and a deposit is required.

 

THE CLUB

The Club can hold up to 50 people.

 

 

THE HALL


The Hall can accommodate 180 people or 120 if seated at tables. 

 

 

The Hall has a disabled toilet, baby-changing facilities and a sprung floor suitable for dancing. 

The hire charge for the Hall is usually £15 per hour.  

The kitchen is available for use free of charge, but if appliances (oven, dishwasher or microwave) are used £10 for electricity will be charged. 

A bar can be provided.

Parish Hall Terms and Conditions of Hire

As the Hirer, you are responsible for complying with and ensuring the compliance of others with these Terms and Conditions:

Use of Parish Hall

In accordance with the Hire Contract, you may use only the Areas and Facilities Hired and you may use them only for the Purpose of Hire during the Time of Hire. 

The maximum capacity of the hall is 180 however if seated at tables it is 120.

Preparation, Cleanliness and Departure

You are responsible for setting up the Areas Hired and returning all tables and chairs to their original positions at the end of the Hire, leaving all areas clean and tidy. The premises must be vacated within 30 minutes of the end of your Hire.

At the end of the Hire, you are required to:

• Leave the premises in a clean and tidy condition, having removed all foodstuffs, cleaned all surfaces used, swept the floor and cleaned and tidied the toilet areas.

• turn off all the lights 

• close/lock all windows 

• set the alarm 

• close / lock all external doors

You will be charged for the extra energy or water used if the lights or heating are left on or the water taps are left running after the Hire.

Use of kitchen

You may use the kitchen facilities, however you may use the electrical appliances e.g. oven, hob or microwave only if this is included in the Hire Contract and you have paid the additional charge.

You are responsible for ensuring adherence to the rules regarding health and hygiene displayed in the kitchen.  The Parish Hall Committee accepts no responsibility for any illness resulting from the preparation or consumption of food.

Health and Safety

You are responsible for and must take all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of all those in attendance during the Hire.

Familiarise yourself with the fire exits and fire procedures.

You must ensure that any electrical equipment brought onto the premises has been PAT tested within the last year.

No Smoking is permitted on the premises.  You would be breaking the law by allowing smoking to take place on these premises.  Smoking is allowed outside the premises but the noise must be kept to a minimum.

Any fine for breaking the smoking ban will be the sole responsibility of the Hirer.

Damage and breakages to Parish property

You must report any damage or breakages to Tim Carruthers within 24 hours of the incident.

You must pay for any damage, however caused, arising during or in respect of the Hire.

You must take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety of the parish property and grounds at all times including during arrival and departure of those attending

You must provide adequate supervision and control during the Hire.

Consideration for others

You are required to keep any music volume to an acceptable level to avoid causing a nuisance to our neighbours.

Please arrive and leave the premises quietly and respectfully and at all times ensure public order, sobriety and decency.

We have a zero tolerance to bad language and threatening behaviour to the bar staff and any of the Parish representatives.

Sale of Alcohol. 

You are not permitted to sell alcohol on or bring any alcohol or illegal substances onto or near the premises. 

If you request the bar to be open, and there is insuffient money taken over the bar i.e. £200 there will be a charge of £40 to cover staff wages.

Security of Personal Property

The Parish will not accept any responsibility for the loss of or damage to any articles or equipment left on the premises.

Property in connection with the Hire shall not be left on the premises after the HIre, and the Parish Hall Committee will accept no responsibility for such. Any disposal of the said property will be at the cost of the Hirer.

Car Park

The church car park can be used for parking.  Please make your guests aware that parking around Hop Villa (the student residence) next to the church is not permitted and the owners operate a vigorous clamping system – vehicles parked incorrectly will be clamped.

The Parish Hall Committee will not be responsible for anyone being clamped.

Indemnification

The use of the parish hall is entirely at the risk of the Hirer (you). The Hirer shall indemnify the Parish against all claims, demands, actions or proceedings and any loss, damage or injury which may be brought against or suffered by the Parish arising from or in consequence of the non-observance or non performance of any of these lease conditions or any act, neglect, default or omission of the Hirer, their visitors or guests.

If the Hire is cancelled within 4 weeks of the Date of Hire a £20 cancellation fee will be retained. 

 

A £40 cleaning/Bar deposit is required with on all bookings. This must be paid by a separate cheque payable to Our Lady of Lourdes and St Peter Chanel Parish Hall.

 

The hall will be checked after Hire, if it has been cleaned sufficiently and is ready for hire by the next person the cleaning deposit cheque will be destroyed. If cleaning is required the deposit will be used for this purpose and the Hirer will be informed.

 

ALL RUBBISH MUST BE REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF APPROPRIATELY.

posting through the door of the Parish House at 119, Cottingham Road or

to Tim Carruthers
